Ciera & Leon's Wedding!

Three months...not too bad for me! These pictures are way behind on the posting spectrum, however better late then never ;)  I had a ridiculously fun time being Ciera and Leon's photographer for their special day! They not only are an adorable couple, they have great personalities (which made my job easier!).
Shooting my second wedding went fairly smoothly for me! Granted I had an amazing assistant (also my best friend, whom I give full credit for the balcony shot during the ceremony). I thought I was overly prepared, had the whole day planned out in my mind, and of course nothing went as planned! As with my last wedding you just roll with what is happening and be ready to find an extra plate for cutting the cake, finding a sewing kit for a missing button, and directing when everyone looks at you with a lost expression on their faces! I did have a photographers nightmare- got my pictures home only to find out that one of my lens was malfunctioning and you could split the picture in half with the left being out of focus and the right of it fine! I don't normally freak out about much, but that was definitely a freak out moment. With some editing they came out fine, thankfully.
So here are just a few pictures of the beautiful day. Special thank you to the lovely couple for letting me share the pictures with you all!

...Spontaneous inspirations...

A couple weeks ago I drove by a creek that connects a lake to a little pond. I immediately grabbed my cell phone and texted a friend asking her if she would model for me! (I have to add that I was NOT driving- I do not advise texting and driving) The next day we were hopping rocks in the creek, unfolding the crazy vision I had in mind...and taking a couple normal pictures for her school portraits :)

She makes my life too easy with being a natural poser!

Love this one!

The sound of music pose ;)

Huge thank-you to Katie for being a ready model and going along with my crazy ideas! ;)
You are beautiful from the inside out <3

Hibernation

Anyone who follows my blog or are friends with me on facebook may think that I have gone into hibernation...and to social media I have! Been too busy traveling and living to keep up with the online world! Not to mention too busy shoveling! So. Much. Snow! But it is so beautiful and I have to admit that I love being snowed in every now and then...

Though I'm sure you will agree with me- I am ready for summer! Standing in snow up to my hips on the side of the road while taking pictures of a swan offers stability, but you can't really get out of it too well...

Besides my obsession for taking pictures of random objects...

I have a NEW obsession! Painting with light...

GAH! Why haven't I tried this before? Sure, I lost sleep sitting in my room with the lights off and a small flashlight in hand painting the light onto my sensor, but hey! I only got one decent shot but seeing as it was my first time I was pretty pleased :)
Which brings me to my other new obsession (yes, I have a lot of them), well it is more of a hobby. That film camera up there? Yeah, I finally got my hands on one that works! Just fiddling around with it gives me more of a sense of all that goes on when you take a picture. Once I get some film I'm going to start shooting for inspiration. It slows you down before you release the shutter making you really think about the lighting, aperture, sensor/film sensitivity, shutter speed...ect. Oh, you thought I just raised the camera to my face, clicked and BAM! A good shot? heh, if only. Then again the challenge of each picture/situation is what keeps things interesting!
Anyway excuse my excited rambling! That's what has been going on in my photography life. I'm also preping for a wedding in May that I am super psyched about! I'd post about my last wedding that I shot but cannot for the the bride and groom's privacy.
Hope you are all enjoying the snow! And if you're not, at least enjoy the pictures of the snow ;)
